Local pastimes, tourist attractions, sports centres and historic houses are plentiful. Chatteris is central to the Fens and has many local tourist attractions and places of interest — historic buildings, nature reserves and country walks — on it’s doorstep.
For guests requiring a relaxed holiday there are very good coarse fishing and trout farms.
Quiet country walks with historic houses to view are many. From the two cathedrals at Peterborough and Ely to Oliver Cromwell’s House.
Those following more active pursuits can sail, canoe or windsurf at the Mepal Outdoor Centre or play golf at the two excellent courses at March or Ramsey.
Newmarket and Huntingdon provide a good day at the races throughout the year, please ring for details of meetings. Peterborough Greyhounds is a great place to enjoy an inexpensive evening of dog racing.
Chatteris Airfield provides parachute jumping, two day courses and microlight flying at weekends, during the week — weather permitting!
Nature and Animals: There is marvellous bird watching at Welney and Purls Bridge all year round; especially in winter, when the Fens are flooded and the largest concentration of mute swans arrive in England from Siberia and the Baltic States.
Hamerton Zoo has some marvellous examples of animals in conservation. Well worth a visit with the family.
